Therapy & Interventions
Whilst there are no known cure for Autism, however those affected can be helped in many ways . Interventions for ASD include education, behaviour training, social skills training and, in some cases, medicines.
The Treatment and Education of Autistic and Related Communication Handicapped Children(and Adults)(TEACCH) was developed in the early 1970`s by Eric Schopler through the University of Carolina, USA, but because of its training activities and publications the TEACCH approach is widely known nationally and internationally. TEACCH developed the concept of the “Culture of Autism” as a way of considering the characteristic patterns of thinking and behaviour seen in individuals with the diagnosis.
