Asperger`s Syndrome

Asperger’s Syndrome is a form of Autism that affects the way a person socialises, communicates and is creative in their imagination.

StudentsHowever, people with Asperger’s Syndrome usually have fewer problems with language than those with Autism, often speaking fluently, though their words can sometimes sound formal or stilted. People with Asperger’s Syndrome often do not have the accompanying learning disabilities sometimes associated with Autism, in fact people with Asperger’s Syndrome are often of above average intelligence with many displaying a vivid imagination and great creativity in literacy and art.

People with Asperger’s Syndrome often develop an almost obsessive interest in a hobby. Usually their interest involves arranging or memorising facts about a specialist subject such as train timetables, the dimensions of famous landmarks, etc. Outstanding ability in maths, music or drawing are not uncommon but the person may struggle with social skills.
