Principles of Care

'Spot' the rabbitEach potential new service user is assessed prior to admission. Compatibility with existing service users is a major consideration in this process.

Each service user has a comprehensive Support Plan, following a Person Centred Approach, detailing all of their needs requiring support.

The service user is always central in the Care Planning Process. In instances where he or she is not able to take responsible decisions, every effort is made to involve their representatives, friends, relatives and advocates.

The Care Plan is objective based and demonstrates how, when and where the service user’s needs are met and how much help and support is required. It is only implemented with the agreement of the service user and/or their representative.

The Care Plan details how staff  help and support the service user to improve their own abilities in everyday life skills.

Each service user is allocated a Key Worker, who is responsible for the co-ordination, supervision and monitoring of the Care Plan.

In addition to the regular monitoring of the Care Plan, the Registered Manager is responsible for arranging formal reviews, at least every six months, to consider the outcome of the original objectives, the feasibility of the strategies and the changing needs of the service user. New goals and new objectives may be considered during the review meeting, to which the service user’s relatives, friends and representatives are invited.
